Thanks to the initiative of Alain Rens, former
Belgian Ambassador in Paris, the exhibition dedicated to Olivier
Strebelle's work was sponsored by Suez Lyonnaise des Eaux and
the Dexia Group.
From May 15 until August 15, 2001 36 monumental sculptures in
bronze were displayed in Paris between the opera house "Opera
Garnier" and the "Tuileries" garden, with an important
assemblage of sculptures on the famous square "Place Vendôme".
Winged figures, lions, raptors, and strange anthropomorphic creatures
were amongst the surprising collection exhibited to the public.
Taking the surrounding classical architecture into account and
ensuring the symmetrical disposition of his multi-form sculptures,
the artist played with the effect of order and contrast.
