Olivier Strebelle created this very particular
fountain in the framework of an international competition. The
location- above the entry of a parking lot - as well as the function
of the artwork were imposed by the rules of the competition.
La Vague is a seven meters high and
twelve meters long sculpture composed by eleven curved tubes of
stainless steel that create a sparkling volute of water splashing
on the Schouwbourg Square. Material and theme were chosen to stand
out against the character of the site. The curves and the glow
of the tubes compete with the water gushes. The complexity of
the fountain’s movement represents a technical achievement
unequalled in the sector.
The fountain was solemnly inaugurated on March 21, 2003.
